Legal stuff

GulfSider is a small, independent project built for Southwest Florida. We've tried to write this like a real person, not a law firm.

Terms of Service

What GulfSider is

GulfSider is a free event discovery service for Southwest Florida. We curate and surface local events, and optionally send you a personalized weekly digest email. That's it.

Use it at your own risk

We do our best to keep event information accurate and timely, but we can't guarantee it. Events get cancelled, venues change, details shift. Always confirm directly with the organizer before you show up somewhere.

GulfSider is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind — express or implied. We're not liable for any loss, damage, or disappointment that results from using this service.

What we ask of you

Be a decent person. Don't use GulfSider to scrape data, send spam, impersonate others, or do anything you wouldn't want your grandma to read about in the paper.

Availability

We keep the lights on as best we can, but we're a small operation. We may change, pause, or shut down the service at any time without notice. We'll try to give you a heads-up if it's something significant.

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use GulfSider after that means you're okay with the updated terms.

Privacy Policy

What we collect

  • Your email address — to send your digest and sign-in links.
  • Your event preferences — cities, event types, and audience filters you choose during setup.
  • Your seasonal schedule — months you'd like to pause emails, if you set any.

That's the full list. We don't collect your location, track your browsing, or run ad pixels.

How we use it

Your email and preferences are used for one thing: putting together and sending your personalized weekly digest. We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything unrelated to running GulfSider.

Analytics & session recording

We use PostHog to understand how people use GulfSider. This includes basic analytics (pages visited, clicks) and session recordings, which help us see how the site is being used so we can improve it. PostHog operates under its own privacy policy.

Email tracking

Emails sent through GulfSider may include standard open and click tracking provided by our email delivery service. This helps us understand whether our emails are useful. If you don't want to receive tracked emails, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any digest we send.

Who we share data with

We use Resend to deliver email. Your email address is shared with them solely for that purpose. They are bound by their own privacy policy and do not use your data for their own marketing.

As GulfSider grows, we may integrate additional services to make the experience more useful — things like event ticketing, local deals, or community features. If that happens, this policy will be updated to reflect any new data sharing arrangements.

Your rights

You can unsubscribe from the weekly digest at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send. You can also update your preferences or permanently delete your account from your account settings page — no email required.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as you have an account with us. If you ask us to delete your account, we'll remove your personal data within 30 days.
